Mark Small is a senior Work Health and Safety professional, Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health & Safety, and licensed investigator, with more than 20 years’ experience conducting complex workplace investigations across Australia and internationally.
Mark specialises in WHS investigations, including serious incidents, near misses, and psychosocial investigations. He is an ICAM Lead Investigator and Exemplar Global–certified Lead Auditor, applying structured, evidence-based methodologies to identify underlying issues, assess the effectiveness of systems, and examine the reliability of controls and defences, supporting effective and sustainable corrective action.
As an Adjunct Lecturer at Edith Cowan University, Mark teaches incident investigation and investigation analysis, ensuring his investigative practice reflects contemporary investigation theory and human factors principles.
He is also a qualified paralegal, providing assurance that investigations are conducted with procedural fairness, evidentiary integrity, and professional rigour.
